What happens when I have a treatment?Reflexology treatments normally last about one hour. However, the first session usually takes over an hour as the practitioner will need to record your personal details, medical history and lifestyle before starting any physical treatment. A form will need to be completed and all information is treated as strictly confidential. You will then be asked to remove your shoes and socks and to lie on a comfortable reclining chair with your feet raised. The practitioner will then begin by applying pressure to your feet (and/or hands). A treatment schedule may then be discussed at the end of the session depending on your body's needs. After a reflexology treatment, your body may respond in a very definite way, some people feel very relaxed and some lethargic, nauseous or tearful. However, this is a transitory phase and is part of the healing process. It is therefore important to feed this information back to the practitioner as it will give her more information in order to help you. |
